Located on a main street in Bothell, Washington, this building is the headquarters for an international importing and product development company. Responsive to the civic context of the site, the building thoughtfully balances its public relationship to Memorial Park and to Bothell Way. The building is open and sensitive to the park and street, merging the landscape of trees and plantings with the building on the park side, and becoming more solid and business-like toward the north where current and future building density will increase and become more urban in scale. The ramp and stair integrate with the building mass, but also interact with the street, landscape areas and park, which are important elements of the urban strategy to mediate between the park and the commercial street. While the building has a strong connection to the site, it also provides a strong identity for the business on a larger scale as the center of product development and sales for supporting offices, operations, and warehouses in the United States, Canada and Norway.
