Anderson
Anderson Architecture has designed and built dozens of thoughtfully
designed, carefully crafted homes for individual clients. While
some of these projects have been in dense urban areas, particularly
in Japan, most have been gently placed into beautiful natural sites
on the shores and surrounding hillsides of Puget Sound. In the earliest
years of our firm, Mark and I built these houses ourselves, slowly
learning the craft of building, the relationship of the house to
the earth, and the practical details of budgets and construction
contracting. Now as we work with other contractors, this first hand
knowledge of the nuts and bolts of construction, the business of
finance and contracting, and the soul of woodworking and the material
crafts, all contribute to very special, well-coordinated, well-designed
homes.
We work very closely with our clients to understand their individual
desires for the house, to provoke and guide their imaginations,
and to efficiently achieve spatially rich, materially engaging homes.
We work with the topography, the vegetation, the light and views
to maximize the potential of each site and individual program. Carefully
selecting and developing materials, manufactured components and
building systems, we balance the richness of hand craft work with
the efficiency and affordability of modern construction methods.
We have designed and built very small and simple homes, and we have
built very large and complex homes and site works. We are interested
in any scale of project, with clients who are equally interested
in the special qualities of their site, and in the creative realization
of an individualized home. |
